Job Description

Responsible for the daily monitoring and verification of adherence to customer specifications. This includes analyzing incoming materials, work in progress, and finished product to ensure all materials meet established quality standards. Use data collection, and testing of coated products to insure optical, cosmetic and physical integrity. Work closely with the team to prevent, detect, communicate and act on product defects.


  • Conduct process observations audits throughout each shift, ensuring that employees are following prescribed procedures to produce consistent, high quality products. Also ensure processes are running according to documented parameters.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the shift, ensuring that customer requirements and specifications are met. Understand customer’s specifications for each product type or job and clearly communicate those to the team. Provide feedback to management on process/product audits and test results.
  • Recognize report and act on any defects or quality issues, providing feedback to Team Leaders and other team members on quality issues that arise.
  • Provide feedback on quality issues for the KPI boards.
  • Be a certified inspector for all products and train and certify others as inspectors. Audit inspectors regularly to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Work effectively with automated inspection systems, including collecting, monitoring, and analyzing data from the system and making appropriate system adjustments in response to that data.
  • Correctly set up and operate appropriate testing and measurement equipment for cosmetic, optical, and physical properties following established procedures and timelines to ensure product meets Customer Specifications. Audit calibrations.
  • Conduct quality tests as defined and record and maintain product records data files on the computer and other record keeping formats.
  • Interact and support Production team in root cause investigation of troubleshooting and quality issues.
  • Assist in investigation and corrective action for customer complaints and resolution process for RPS’s.
  • Assist in development of work instructions, training and certifying team members and assisting in special projects.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and training; and minimum of two years of relevant experience and/or training in quality manufacturing. Curtain wall industry experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook required to maintain electronic quality records and report trends.
  • Must be able to ask questions of supervisor, listen and follow verbal instructions, communicate verbally with co-workers and read all safety rules and instructions.
  • Must be able to perform all simple mathematics in regard to measurements of length and area during fabrication. Ability to understand and calculate percentages, averages and metric and fraction conversions, and use a tape measure.
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, twist, squat and climb on an occasional basis, stand and talk on a frequent basis and use one’s fingers and reach on a continuous basis.
  • Bending, squatting, climbing and twisting are required on an occasional basis. Pushing up to 60 pounds and pulling up to 30 pounds is also occasionally required.
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds is required frequently.
  • There is exposure to constant or intermittent sound of pitch sufficient to cause distraction. There is exposure to vibration when using power tools and equipment. There is occasional exposure to chemicals, dust, and fumes. Some personal protective equipment is required while working.
